Tragedy: Blast due to overloading of steam tank at a chemical manufacturing factory near Rajkot; 4 workers killed, 9 burnt
The incident took place at 8.30 pm when laborers were working in Dev Industries on the seam of Kherwa village on Kuwadwa-Wankaner road.
Burned laborers shifted to Rajkot Civil Hospital, woman and two children rescued as home quarantine
Three workers were killed on the spot and one died at Rajkot Hospital when a blast ripped through a chemical factory at Kherwa village on the Rajkot-Wankaner road at 8.30 pm on Monday. While nine Daji have been admitted to the Civil Hospital in Rajkot. Fire brigade staff rushed to the spot on learning of the blaze and efforts are underway to contain the blaze. More than 22 workers were working in the factory, according to villagers living nearby.
According to police and fire brigade sources, the workers were working in a chemical manufacturing factory called Dev Industries around 8.30 pm on Monday when the steam tank overloaded and burst into flames. At this time, nine of the workers working around the tank as well as at other places in the factory were severely burnt and scattered far and wide. As soon as the blast took place, people from Kherwa and surrounding villages rushed to the factory and shifted the burnt workers to Rajkot Civil Hospital in a vehicle with a wheelbarrow.

Anil Kumar, Manoj, Mohan, Chhotan Sharma, Sunny, Sarman, Roshan, Maheshwar and a stranger were brought to Rajkot in a burnt condition after 10 pm. As well as a stranger who died after being brought to the hospital. While three died at the scene. How did this fire happen? Where are the missing workers?
